The St Ives Public School Band Program comprises over 95 students across 4 bands – Concert Blue (for beginner students), Concert Gold (for students in their second year of playing their instrument), Symphonic Wind Ensemble (for third and fourth year students) and the Jazz Jam. Students come together for a weekly afternoon music school where they participate in sectional rehearsals, full band rehearsals and musicianship classes.
Jazz Jam is an extension band program for students who have been playing for a couple of years and has more of a jazz focus in the choice of music. They rehearse once a week and perform regularly at school and external events.

The West Pymble Public School Performance Band is the most senior of the three bands at the school. They practice twice a week and love to perform publicly. One of Abbotsleigh’s five wind bands, the Tour Band is a small ensemble selected from Abbotsleigh’s advanced Symphonic Winds. Students range from 13 to 16 years of age and have recently returned from a concert tour of New Zealand’s North Island. The ensemble performs throughout the year presenting repertoire ranging from contemporary Australian and American band composers such as Frank Ticheli, to Broadway favourites like Sondheim and Menken. They plan to tour locally in 2019 followed by an anniversary performance at the Opera House in 2020 for Abbotsleigh’s 135th birthday. Abbotsleigh performs annually at the Wahroonga Food and Wine Festival and looks forward to sharing their love of live music with the afternoon audience.
Sydney Youth Musical Theatre is now in its 39th year of staging productions in the Sydney region, and it remains the only exclusively youth musical society in Australia. Each year, we stage two productions: one in July for our 14-25 year-old members, and a November production for our 10-18 year-old members. At Wahroonga Food & Wine Festival there will be a short series of musical numbers performed by select members of the cast of the up and coming NSW Premiere of the musical ‘Tarzan’ performing at Hornsby RSL from 22nd to the 25th of November.
